Sprouts

A while back, I bought a bag of "sprouting" seeds.  I had never heard of "growing" your own sprouts until recently, but now that I know about it I wonder why people buy sprouts!
.
.
I started with 1 tablespoon of seeds.  I put the seeds in a quart size canning jar with 1 cup of water.  Instead of using a regular canning lid, I have a mesh screen that fits the top of my jar.  I left the seeds to soak overnight.
.
.
The next morning I drained the seeds and then rinsed them and drained them again.  Basically in the morning and evening I repeated this procedure for several days.
.
.
After a couple of days the seeds began to sprout.
.
.
They just kept growing!
.
.
When most of the sprouts were a couple of inches long, and the jar was pretty much full, I decided that they were done.  I switched the mesh lid for a regular lid, and now they are in my refrigerator waiting for a salad, or a sandwich!
