Painting the Nursery

Here's an old post that somehow never actually got posted:
.
David took advantage of his time off between Christmas and New Years to paint the nursery.
.
.
.
Sprocket helped.
 .
.
The color that we chose is called Picking Daisies.  It is so lovely and warn; it almost glows.  I keep walking by and thinking that the light is on, but when I go in to turn it off, it turns out that the walls just seem to glow with an ambient light!
.
I'll try to get some pictures of how the nursery is looking with furniture posted soon!

Sprocket Blogging

Hello blog, Sprocket here.  Lately Mom and Dad have been pretty busy and haven't had time to blog, so I thought I'd try my paw at it.
.
Instead of blogging they've been doing a lot of  . . .
.
.
 . . . holding the new baby.
.
.
I've offered to help, but so far they will only let me sniff him, and once I managed to lick his feet.
.
He seems like an alright guy, although he does a lot of  . . .
.
.
. . . yawning, and . . .
.
.
. . . sleeping.
.
It seems like it would be a boring life . . .
.
. . . but he seems to like it!

Tamales

For New Year's this year we made tamales.
.
.
.
.
One tip that we read for steaming them was to put some loose change in the bottom of the pot.  When we heard it start to rattle we would know that the water was getting low and that we needed to add some more.

Cabled Inspiration

.
I think that knitted cables must have been originally inspired by tree roots like this.

Bag into Pillow

A few years ago I took a class to learn a knitting technique called entrelac.  It's basically a knitted fabric that looks woven.  The project for the class was this bag.
.
.
Well, the bag has been sitting around since I finished it, because it's not really a very useful bag to me.
.
.
(Sprocket contemplating the bag.)
.
Not long ago it dawned on me that I could use the bag as a pillow cover instead!
.
So I got a pillow form from Michaels, and lo and behold it fits!
.
It's a pretty tight fit, so I opted to sew the cover on rather than use buttons.  I figured that the gaps between the buttons would show the white pillow inside.
.
Voila!  Now my handiwork is useful rather than stuffed away in my craft cupboard awaiting an uncertain fate!

Baby Sweaters

I didn't get all my projects finished up by the end of the year as planned, but I have made some progress.  I've been working on finishing up some baby sweaters.  Now when Baby P gets here, he won't have to be naked!
.
.
This sweater finally has buttons sewn on and the ducks now have beaks, feet and eyes!
.

 .
 .
This sweater has buttons.
.
.
.
And I actually made another sweater!  It's all done, except for a button; let's hope that it doesn't take me as long to get a button on this sweater as it did on the others!
