Sprocket Blogging

Hello blog, Sprocket here.  Lately Mom and Dad have been pretty busy and haven't had time to blog, so I thought I'd try my paw at it.
.
Instead of blogging they've been doing a lot of  . . .
.
.
 . . . holding the new baby.
.
.
I've offered to help, but so far they will only let me sniff him, and once I managed to lick his feet.
.
He seems like an alright guy, although he does a lot of  . . .
.
.
. . . yawning, and . . .
.
.
. . . sleeping.
.
It seems like it would be a boring life . . .
.
. . . but he seems to like it!

Legitimate

Ever since we got Sprocket, we've been meaning to get him a tag with his name on it.  He already had a few tags: one with his animal licence number, and one with his microchip information, but we figured it would be a good idea to have one with his name and our phone number on it, too.  So we got this.
.
.
.
Doesn't he look excited?  Actually he was really confused about why I wanted him to look at my hand, and not my face.  He eventually complied, though!  Hooray, after having Sprocket for 2 years, now he's legitimate!

Sleepy Puppy . . . Again!

It's been a while since Sprocket appeared on the blog, so I thought I'd post this picture of him.
.
.
It appears that pictures of a sleepy Sprocket are somewhat of a tradition on the blog!

Sleepy Puppy

.
Lately Sprocket has been doing this thing where he crosses his front legs when he lays down.  I think that it's so cute!

Backpacking Dog

.
We're planning a bunch of hikes for the summer, and possibly a backpacking trip.  So we got Sprocket his own back pack so that he can carry his own food and water!

Wilderness Adventure

Over the weekend we went for a hike in Forest Park.  We did a relatively short hike: about 3 miles.
.
.
We have a set of maps of Forest Park, and we did the "Avenue of Trees" hike.  It's our favorite trail because it's where David proposed to me.
.
.
It was Sprocket's first time being out in the woods, and he seemed to enjoy it.  It didn't rain on us, however it was wet and we all got muddy.  Especially Sprocket!
.
.
We had such a good time, that we've decided to make it a goal to do all 9 of the hikes in our set of maps by the end of the summer!

Desk Update

The desk top is now in the office.
.
It's just waiting for the desk bases, which are in the kitchen in the process of being painted.
.
.
Yep, they're in the kitchen.  It's way to cold to be painting in the garage.
.
How does Sprocket feel about the desk?
.
He's pretty excited!

On a Walk

The other day Sprocket and I went on a walk with Lacy and Mary.
.
.
Sprocket was walking next to Mary's stroller, and she kept putting out her hand to pet him.  It was pretty darn cute!

Stars and Hearts

A few months ago I went through my stash of yarn.  I got rid of about one third of it, mostly yarn that I had bought a long time ago, that I no longer liked.  There was some acrylic yarn, and a lot of "novelty" yarn.  With the rest of the yarn I tried to match up yarn with a pattern, and put them together in a Ziploc bag so that I could have ready made projects.  This way I would be able to easily use the yarn I already have, and not be as tempted to go out and buy new yarn.  In one of the bags I had a lot of small balls of yarn in the red-orange-yellow family of colors.  Many of these were yarns that I had dyed using kool-aid,  so I didn't have a large quantity of any one color.  I had matched this hodge-podge of yarns up with a hat pattern with a star design and ear flaps.
.

.
This design was actually commissioned for the first Harry Potter movie.  Baby Harry was supposed to wear this hat when he was left on his aunt and uncle's doorstep.  However, the night that they filmed that scene was warm, so they ended up not using the hat.  I actually made the smallest size, which was supposed to fit an infant, figuring that I know a couple of people who are pregnant and this would be a great gift to have on hand.  But I didn't really check my gauge, and apparently I used larger yarn than they had in mind . . . so instead it fits me.  I'm not sure where I would wear this hat, so it may go in my gift pile anyway.
.
.
When I was done knitting the hat, which took very little time, there were about a million ends to sew in.  That took forever!  When I was done I still had some yarn left, so I figured that I would save it and make another one someday . . . maybe once I'd forgotten about sewing in all the ends.
.
.
The very next day I cast on a second one.  Oops!  This one worked out better however, because I sewed in the ends as I went along.  I also switched to the heart pattern.
.
.
Sprocket helped me block them!

Sprocket and Kazul

Over the weekend, Melissa brought her new cat, Kazul, over so that we could meet him.
.
He and Sprocket hit it off right away.
.
Kazul tried to hide from Sprocket in the bathroom.  Let's just say that there are now cat scratch marks about 5 feet  off the ground on the bathroom wall.
.
Once he figured out that the bathroom wasn't a good place to hide, he decided to get out of reach.
.
.
Sprocket so wanted to be friends and play, but Kazul would have none of it.
.
.
They were so intent on each other that David was able to get these picture without either of them moving so much as an inch.
.
.
David took Sprocket upstairs so that Melissa could calm Kazul down enough to get him down.  Then Melissa and Kazul left.  When Sprocket came back down, he was sure that the cat must be around the house somewhere.  He went and sat in the kitchen and looked up at the top of the cabinets again, waiting for Kazul to pop out!  Silly Puppy!
